Wish Granted: Paper and ribbon scraps - day 3

Welcome to our last days for the paper and Ribbon scraps Wish  Granted with Chris and Isa are sharing their techniques and projects with you.
Don't forget about our challenge which will be posted shortly after this post.

Firsts of all, let's finish the "scraps of paper" techniques series with Isasart's project.

By Isabelle Juin

Here's the paper scrap and stamp that I will use for my project

First I stamp the image on the printed paper

Tip: I used a colour ink similar to the paper shades so that, if I make a mistake whilst cutting, it will hardly show

I highlight some details with a white pen

I stamp the little girl again on another scrap of paper

I glued "clothes" on the second stamped image and cut her out

I use the remaining scraps of paper as a background paper

Here is the finished card

Tampon Sarah MO4
Tampons Katzelkraft
noel KTZ39 (banner) & wings KTZ31
Crafty Individuals stamp CI 203
Stazon ink (wings on acetate)

-----

Now the wish was for scraps of paper AND ribbon, so Chris came up with a fantastic sample and step-by-step. I can't wait to try it out myself.
Here it goes, you won't look at your ribbons left overs the same way from now on ;)

by Chris Dark
For a quick and easy Valentine, Anniversary or love card and a way to use up ribbon scraps you'll need a card blank, a piece of card cut slightly smaller than the card blank embossed with the Crafts Too embossing folder and die cut using the Spellbinders Nestability heart. A button threaded with a scrap of cotton, a half pearl to match ribbon scraps, double sided tape, a sponge applicator and walnut stain distress ink, a red pen, dimension tape.

Take the card blank and use the heart die cut piece to gauge where on the card to place the double sided tape. Apply the tape to the card blank making sure there's enough overlap under the heart and start to apply the ribbon scraps to the sticky double sided tape.

Apply the ribbon over the entire area of double sided tape and check that everything looks OK by popping the die cut card piece over the top to check there are no areas of glue or white card showing.

Ink the edges of the card blank, the die cut heart card piece around the edges and also around the die cut edge with the sponge applicator and walnut stain distress ink.

Apply dimension tape to the back of the die cut piece and attach to the card.
Place the button and a half pearl and red pen dots can be added around the heart and edge of the embossed piece.

Et voilà

Wish Granted: Paper and ribbon scraps - day 2

Hello,
And welcome back for our Wish Granted day 2.
Sounds like you really enjoyed yesterday's post. thank you sooo much for your comments, they do mean a lot to us!
So second technique today: use your scraps to make flowers.
Remember Dawn's flowers back in November? Well Poupette has used the same technique with scraps of paper but instead of soaking the flowers, she spritzed them with the gorgeous Smooch Spritzers.
How yummy is this?? By the way, I added more Spritzers colours on the site yesterday, don't forget to check them out!
Here's her step-by-step.
There is also another cute sample made by Ria, using a Stamping Bella stamp and a beautiful flower too.
Don't forget to let us (her) know what you think.
Tomorrow post will show you another way to use your scraps of paper AND a fantastic way to use little bits of ribbon.
See you then ;)

take scraps of paper , and punch circles out

then fold while it's wet

unfold when it's dry and add a brad

Wish Granted: Paper and ribbon scraps - day 1

Hello everyone,
Ready for a new wish granted? Our little talented fairies have worked hard to bring you another 3 days of super inspiration and techniques for you to try in our next challenge.
So which one did we pick up? Trish's one who said...

I wish the DT could show me how to use up all the scraps of paper and ribbon I always end up with at the end of a project. I have so many now, and it seems a waste not to use them for something!
Thanks, Trish x

Thank you for posting this Trish, and I really think you are in for a treat. Not only with Michelle's organisation and technique today, but also with Poupette and Ria's samples tomorrow... and wait until you see Chris' ribbon recycling on Friday ( I LOVE this one!! Can't wait to do it myself). Isasart has a great tutorial for you on Friday too ....

In the meantime, here's what you have won Trish.

So ready??? here we go
I must confess, I am totally impressed with Michelle's organisation!!
And by the way, we sell those boxes at the Barn, you can find them here.

When I tidy up after finishing a project, I put all my scraps in colour coded boxes

and any strips into a strip box. That way if I need card/paper for mat and layering I can use the bits up first.

I often use the strips to weave with

to create a piece of paper I then alter

with these two pieces I masked the paper with a scroll mask and sprayed each piece with Smooch inks then inked them with Distress inks.

 Michelle used:
Scraps of paper
masks or stencils
Smooch Spritz Ink Mister: Cherry Ice
Smooch Spritz Ink Mister: Frosted Grape
Smooch Spritz Ink Mister: Emerald Sprinkle

Inkadinkado: Angels
Martha Stewart Glitter packs
Zig squeeze & roll glue

 Another sample and technique

Masked with some non slip matting for carpets and sprayed with smooch spritz

 Cuttlebug With Love embossing folder

Crafty Individuals stamps: CI-266 ; CI-207

****
Another sample with woven background
Stamps: Hobby Art - Oodles of Doodles

****
And a sample from Ria for a softer version

See you tomorrow for another way to use your scraps of paper.

The Wishing Well challenge #1: colouring with Coloursoft pencils

Hello,
How are you all? Did you enjoy those last 3 days tutorials, tips and techniques? Anything new you saw you would like to try? Or maybe you have not used those Derwent (or another pigment pencil brand) for a while and they are getting a bit dusty :o).
There is no better day than today (or this weekend). Here is your chance to use them again.

For this first challenge (we are going to start easy LOL), you will have to make a sample (card, tag, ATC, altered something etc...) using one of the techniques shown in the last 3 days: either Chris' colouring techniques, or Michelle's tip to colour tiny images or maybe your will try Isabelle's wrinkle-distress-shadow technique...

You can enter as many times as you wish providing you use
Derwent (or another brand) pigment pencils
(no Copics/Promarkers colouring, I'm sure there will be another opportunity for these)

This challenge is opened to all countries

Just post your sample on your blog with the logo below and add your link on this post
(click on the little blue frog at the end of this post)

Challenge will end on Sunday 23rd midnight (UK time)
The winner will be announced the following week and will win
a set of Derwent Coloursoft Skintones and a pack of Paperstumps

Good luck!!

Wish Granted colouring part 3

Hello,
and welcome to the last part of our Wish Granted about colouring with Derwent Coloursoft pencils.
Today, Isa'sart is showing her way to work with those pencils.
I'm sure you will enjoy this gorgeous project. Please let us know what you think in a comment below.

1/ Cover a (4 x 14 cm) tag with craft paper stamped with PaperArtsy Christmas 1 and wrinkle it

2/ Highlight the wrinkles using Distress ink and add shadows with Derwent Coloursoft pencils (you can blend with Sansodor if you want or leave it depending on the effect you want)

3/ Add a touch of white acrylic Eco Green Craft paint to distress the tag

The finished tag
(click on picture to zoom in)

4/ Stamp the same PaperArtsy image, this time on a book page using Versafine Onyx black ink
The stopwatch fits exactly in a bottle cap (trust Isabelle to think about that!!)

5/ Using the Derwent Coloursoft pencils, colour the inside of the stopwatch

6/ Cut it out, and glue it inside the  bottle cap

7/ Add a metal hand, a brad in the center, some Glossy Accents and you have a beautiful embellishment to add to your tag

Vous trouverez les explications en français sur le blog d'Isabelle

So what do you think of this???
Are you ready for the challenge now??
